Main Artists (Mainkunstenaars) consists of the creative duo Marjon Deul and Ien Sluyters. Marjon was born in 1966 in Noordwijkerhout, and Ien was born in 1973 in Berkel-Enschot. Both studied Sculpture at the Academy of fine Arts in Arendonk, Belgium.
They both create their own works, but also frequently collaborate on projects. Particularly in recent years, they have successfully developed unique wall sculptures of steel. They design portraits of individuals and animals, or even transform a life story into a sturdy steel sculpture. The two of them view the possibilities with steel to be endless, and in their hands it certainly is. Alongside designing, the duo also completes the bending and welding of these sculptures together.
The wall sculptures are easy to attach and produce an intricate shadow on the wall. Main Artists have also developed a series of smaller wall sculptures, produced of PLA (biodegradable plastic). These are made using a 3D printer, with a steel foot to anchor it, and produce a similarly interesting 3D effect. They come in a sturdy (gift) box with a certificate of authenticity.
